Daniel Radcliffe believes that he gets cast in sad roles because of his 'sad eyes'. The 21-year-old actor, who will play lonely lawyer Arthur Kipps in horror movie, The Woman In Black, next year, said that people often expect him to be as miserable and serious as his characters. He told Total Film, 'I do tend to play quite sad characters. I don't know why - I'm quite happy. 'When I was 11, [film director] Chris Columbus said he thought I had sad eyes. I think that's largely the reason I play such sad lonely characters.'

But he said that playing complicated parts makes his job more interesting. Talking about the role of Arthur Kipps, he added, 'Arthur is grieving, numb and exhausted, and I think it's a struggle for him to get out of bed in the morning. 'That was definitely something that I focused on - that sense of exhaustion and numbness, and it's very useful because it just gives you a slightly different physicality.'
